Every now and then, you shoot a wedding where the energy is so infectious that you can’t help but smile behind the camera all day long.

Maria and John’s incredible wedding at Runcorn Town Hall followed by a massive celebration at the DCBL Stadium was exactly that. From the absolute second I arrived for bridal preparations, the vibe was electric. There was zero morning tension—just Maria and her bridesmaids literally dancing around the room, singing, and having the absolute best time getting ready.

As a documentary wedding photographer, these are the unscripted moments I live for. No forced smiles, no awkward positioning—just pure, unfiltered joy.

After a brilliant, high-energy morning, we headed over to Runcorn Town Hall for the ceremony. The civic architecture and historic grounds always offer a stunning backdrop for photos, but the British weather decided to keep us on our toes. With dark clouds looming, we played a bit of tactical chicken with the sky. Thanks to perfect timing and a fantastic couple who trusted my vision, we managed to capture every single formal group shot and gorgeous, relaxed couple portrait they wanted around the grounds. Literally moments after we snapped the final shot, the heavens opened and a proper downpour started—talk about immaculate timing!

From there, it was over to the Halton Suite at the DCBL Stadium in Widnes for the reception. If you’ve never seen a stadium suite transformed into a vibrant party venue, Maria and John showed everyone exactly how it’s done. The fun and laughter didn’t skip a beat, culminating in a brilliant first dance where the couple and their guests completely took over the dance floor.
